Pet Policy

William B. Travis Apartments Effective April 1st, 2026

Any resident or applicant who wishes to keep a pet shall so inform management. All residents shall complete a profile on PetScreening.com for each animal on the property. A pet application and ID form shall be completed and signed immediately by the resident. Residents and prospective residents must create a profile for their pet on PetScreening.com. Approval of the animal is subject to the results of the screening by PetScreening.com, and residents must keep their profile up to date at TheWBT.PetScreening.com at all times.

A non-refundable pet fee of $300 per pet is to be paid in full prior to move-in. The monthly pet rent is $25 per pet. Dogs whose breed or dominant breed weight exceeds 75 pounds at maturity are not accepted. A maximum of two (2) approved animals are permitted per apartment. NO ANIMAL IS AUTHORIZED WITHOUT MANAGEMENT’S PRIOR WRITTEN PERMISSION AND THE EXECUTION OF AN ANIMAL ADDENDUM.

Existing residents who’s animals were approved by prior management, but do not meet the current policy may be allowed to remain but must be registered with Petscreening.com regardless of service animal status.

Generally, acceptable animals include domestic cats, dogs, birds, and fish (maximum animal weight of 75 pounds and maximum tank size of 10 gallons for existing units only). Existing fish tanks and water furniture over 5 gallons are grandfathered so long as there is an existing pet addendum to their lease covering the tank and must maintain proof of insurance throughout your residency. No new aquariums or fish tanks are allowed.

The following breeds are restricted: Pit Bulls (and mixes), Rottweiler, Doberman Pinschers, Akita, Chow, Bull Mastiff, Rhodesian Ridgeback, St. Bernard, Staffordshire Terrier, Great Dane, Alaskan Malamute, Husky, German Shepherd, or other “aggressive breeds”.

All other animals are prohibited, including, but not limited to exotic animals, reptiles, snakes, ferrets, iguanas, potbelly pigs, rabbits, and insects. Animals will be subject to visual inspections and/or photography. All pets and assistance animals must undergo a third-party screening process with PetScreening.com.

RESIDENT MAINTENANCE OBLIGATIONS Resident agrees to promptly and regularly perform the following obligations in respect to ownership of a pet:

  1. Keep the unit and its patios, if any, clean and free of pet odors, insect infestation and pet feces, urine, waste and litter. Insect infestation shall be remediated by pet owner. If William B. Travis Apartments has to implement infestation control, additional charges will be applied to the resident.
  2. Restrain and prevent the pet from gnawing, chewing, scratching or otherwise defacing the doors, walls, windows and floor coverings of the unit, other units and the common area, buildings, landscaping and shrubs.
  3. Immediately remove, clean up and appropriately dispose of any pet feces, waste and litter deposited by the tenant’s pet on the common grounds, shrubs, flower beds, sidewalks, parking lots and streets of the community. Dispose of pet waste and litter appropriately.
  4. Failure to clean up after your pet will result in a fee in accordance with the Lease.
  5. Tenants shall be responsible for the proper care and feeding of their pets. If the health or safety of the pet is threatened by the death or incapacity of the pet owner or if the pet is left unattended for 24 hours, the apartment manager may contact the responsible party designated by the pet owner in the pet registration. If that person is unavailable or unwilling to care for the pet, the apartment manager may contact the appropriate state or local authority to remove and care for the pet. If care cannot be arranged, the pet shall be turned over to the local animal shelter at which time their policies regarding care and survival take effect.
